Depending on the type of issue you may be having there may be a variety of solutions to fixing errors on my PC. I have a set of tried and true rules to fix any errors I am asked about and most of the time they will fix the issue.

Step # 1 – Scandisk:

The first thing I always suggest to do is to run a scandisk. This will ensure that any issue you may have is not caused by an issue with the file system or a corrupt spot on your hard drive. As a note if you find you have quite a few bad spots on your hard drive you may want to think about replacing it.

Step # 2 Defrag:

After you run a scandisk then you will want to run defrag to ensure that all files are continuous and double checking the file system. It will also ensure any sectors not written to are cleared to possibly prevent future issues. Running this by itself is not necessarily a good idea because it may write a file to a bad sector which the scandisk might have prevented, which is the reason why I recommend this running after a scandisk.

Step #3- Registry:

As part of any toolkit to fix errors on any PC I always recommend including a registry cleaner. It will check your registry and ensure everything in it makes sense. It will ensure you do not have registry entries that do not point to nothing and that all pointers are actually pointing to the correct file. One nice thing about the registry cleaner is that it can backup and restore the registry to a previous condition if you find out you have issues that may be caused by it. Fix PC Errors

So you will want to ensure you run this one on a regular basis and that after any install or uninstall of software you run it again and run a backup when done. Helping to always ensure you can recover a good version of the registry.

Obviously because of the sheer number of possible issue you can have with a PC. Any solutions to fix errors on your PC may not include those listed above. Do your research and make sure you understand exactly what the issue is. Run the above steps on a regular basis and you will go a long way to preventing any possible issues in the future.
